The District Court is a Court of permanent record; Fremont County District Court records go back to 1885. The Clerk of District Court is responsible to maintain these records for the public as well as file new cases. 

The Clerk of District Court is responsible for:

  • Civil Cases: over $50,000.00 
  • Family Law Cases - Child Custody, Child Support & Divorce 
  • Felony Cases - bound over by the Circuit Court 
  • Probate Cases - Conservatorships, Estates, Guardianships & Wills (Conservator & Guardianships are Confidential) 
  • Juvenile Cases - Abuse, Child in Need of Supervision, Neglect & Delinquency (all Confidential) 
  • Adoption - (Confidential)
Record searches may be obtained in writing from our office at $10.00 per name searched. Please make payments payable to the Fremont County District Court. 
 

Fees: 

  • Civil Case Docketing fees are: $165.00 total 
  • Appeal Cases:
    • Appeal from a lower court to District Court $100.00 
    • Petition for Review: $120.00 
    • Appeal from District court to Supreme Court: $140.00 
  • Document Copies:
    • $1.00 for the first page
    • $0.50 per additional page
    • **Please note at this time we only take cash, check or money order for these and payment must be in advance to be provided. 
  • Self Help Packets: Several different pro se or self-help packets are available at our office each packet is $10.00 per packet or you may find them here, with assistance for legal questions you may have.
  • E-mail filings: Our District Court allows for e-mail filings however, permission to file must be obtained prior to filing, the cost to file is $1.00 per page filed and no filings over 50 pages in length. Please call our court to see how to proceed with this. 
  • File & Serve Xpress: Fremont County offers e-filling through File & Serve Xpress. With this in mind our record on Full Court is the official record. This option allows for attorneys to file electronically without the $1.00 e-mail or fax filing fee and have an instant file stamp for their documents. 

Passports: 

Our office processes passports without an appointment needed, however, pleases note that you should allow time for larger groups to be processed. Please visit www.travel.state.gov for most forms and information or contact our office with questions. Our office also has the proper documentation to obtain a passport.
**We do not take passport pictures; you may obtain one through different locations in Fremont County some are: 

  • Walgreens- Riverton 
  • Tannery-Lander
  • Fremont Frameworks-Lander
